Christmas 2011 (or The Fattening)

So christmas 2011 has come and gone. I spent it in Busselton with my parents, Shane and Amanda. I think it was pretty good as far as Christmases go. Not exciting and eventful, but small, calm and quiet. Looking back at it now on the first day of 2012, the only bummer to come out of the trip was that I managed to put on several kg in the space of a week, but that was all of my own doing. I’m definitely going to have to pull my finger out now and put some effort into losing the weight I’ve regained in the last couple of years. Right now I’d say I’m about as heavy as I’ve ever been.

While the trip down south and Christmas itself was uneventful, I can’t say the same for when I got back from it. Some how while I was away my air conditioner seems to have fused it’s motor and taken out my main power circuit. The result being that I came back to a warm, defrosted fridge and around $400 in costs to get an electrician and an air conditioner repairman out. And, naturally, the day I got back, and the one after it, were the two hottest days we’ve had so far this summer.

The air conditioner is well rooted. It’s not going to be easy or cost effective to try and fix, so I’m going to get a new one put in. My current estimate for that is around $1700, so all up this debacle is probably going to cost me over $2000. Fortunately I can easily afford it, but it would have been nice if it didn’t happen in the first place.
